In the short amount of time since GLEE hit the airwaves, the series has racked up two Platinum and two Gold albums, two Grammy Award nominations, more than 22 million song downloads, the No. 1 soundtrack of 2010 ("The Christmas Album") and an incredible 19 Emmy and 11 Golden Globe nominations, as well as four Emmy Awards and three Golden Globes, including the award for Best Television Series Comedy or Musical.
Throughout all of the hype, GLEE has yet to appear on the big screen - but that's set to change. Deadline.com reports that the critically acclaimed "Glee Live! In Concert!," starring 14 members of the television show's cast (Lea Michele, Cory Monteith, Amber Riley, Chris Colfer, Kevin McHale, Jenna Ushkowitz, Mark Salling, Dianna Agron, Naya Rivera, Heather Morris, Harry Shum Jr, Chord Overstreet, Darren Criss and Ashley Fink), will return to North American concert stages this spring. It will be filmed and screened in 3D for Gleeks who were unable to catch the tour.
The film will play theaters for a limited engagement, directed by Kevin Tancharoen ("Fame"), and will feature behind-the-scenes segments in addition to the concert footage.
There's been no release date set for the film yet, but the concert tour takes place throughout this spring and summer. To read the Deadline.com article, click here, and for more GLEE headlines, click here!
