2013 Queen's Birthday Honours Recognize ATG's Howard Panter, National Theatre's Nick Starr, Actor Rowan Atkinson and More

The Queen's Birthday Honors were published today, June 15, "in recognition of the achievements and service of extraordinary people right across the United Kingdom." Among the honors is a knighthood for Ambassador Theatre Group's owner and producer Howard Panter, who heads ATG's group of 39 theaters, including the recent addition of Broadway's Foxwoods Theatre, which houses SPIDER-MAN.

""It a source of great pride that Britain continues to recognize those within our world-renowned creative industries, and in particular in theatre," Panter said in a statement released yesterday.

CBE's (Commander of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire) were given to The National Theatre's executive director Nick Starr and and The Almeida Theatre's director Michael Attenborough.

The same honor was also bestowed upon actors Rowan Atkinson and Claire Bloom. Atkinson, best known for his portrayal of MR. Bean, has appeared on Broadway in Rowan Atkinson at the Atkinson and in the West End in Oliver! in 2009 and this year in Quatermaine's Terms.Bloom has graced the Broadway stage in King Richard II, Romeo and Juliet, Rashomon, A Doll's House, Hedda Gabler, Vivat! Vivat Regina!, The Innocents and Electra, as well as off-Broadway's A Little Night Music.

Playwright David Ward and comedian Rob Brydon received MBE's (Member of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire).
