This week on BWW:UK, we've been looking back at 2011 - and looking ahead to a very exciting 2012 in the West End and UK theatre!

Last year saw the arrival of Matilda, Ghost, The Wizard of Oz, Rock of Ages and Crazy For You, as well as short stays for Betty Blue Eyes and Lend Me A Tenor.

Our writers have been reviewing 2011 - Kaite Welsh's piece explains why she loved Miriam Cooper's one-woman show Prostitutes Marry In May; Gary Naylor rejoices in the strength in depth of London theatre; and Kevin Sherwin regrets not seeing Ragtime, but he'll get a second chance this year.

That's because it's opening at the Open Air Theatre. Other major new musicals in the UK this year include Sweeney Todd, Singin' in the Rain, Top Hat, Gypsy and Wonderful Town. Have a read of my preview of the year in British theatre, plus my top picks.

I also asked some top West End stars, including LeAnne Jones, Scott Garnham, Nancy Sullivan and Rebecca Caine, for their New Year's resolutions, their theatre wishes for 2012, and their shows to look forward to.

Robert Gould and Julia Hogg have also put together their list of must-sees for the year ahead - catch up with their recommendations too!

Happy New Year to you all once again - and stick with BWW:UK for all the latest news and features from UK theatre.
