2012 Summer Olympics Opening Ceremony Inspired by Shakespeare

According to the Daily Mail, Oscar winner Danny Boyle, who will serve as the artistic director for the upcoming Summer Olympics, has plans to give the opening ceremony a Shakespearean theme. Boyle recently revealed that the event will be titled the 'Isle of Wonders' after a speech from The Tempest, and will include the ringing of a 27-ton bell.

The enormous bell, which will kick off the games, will be inscribed with a line from the play: "Be not afeard; the isle is full of noises."

The 2012 Summer Olympic Games, officially known as the Games of the xx Olympiad, are scheduled to take place in London, England, United Kingdom, from 27 July to 12 August 2012. London will become the first city to officially host the modern Olympic Games three times, having previously done so in 1908 and in 1948.
